2026 United States Grand Prix:
Race Weekend Guide
Big racing. Long evenings. A little room for Austin.
Austin asks you to leave space around the race.
At Circuit of The Americas, the scale is unmistakable: the climb to Turn 1, the sweep of the esses, the red tower above an open Texas landscape. Back in the city, the weekend changes register. Dinner becomes slower. A guitar takes over from the engines. There is another reason to stay out.
Choose your seat carefully. Give the journey some attention. Then leave an evening for the city that made you want to come.
When the weekend happens
The 2026 United States Grand Prix runs from 23–25 October at Circuit of The Americas.
This year follows the conventional Formula 1 rhythm: practice on Friday, final practice and qualifying on Saturday, the Grand Prix on Sunday.
For a short trip, arrive with enough room to settle in. Austin deserves at least one evening before the circuit becomes the centre of the day.
Where to watch
Three choices give the weekend quite different perspectives.
Pronte Pick
Turn 15 — follow the racing
The stadium section lets you watch a sequence develop: cars arriving from the back straight, braking into Turn 12, then working through the corners beyond it. It offers more to follow than a single passing glimpse.
Turn 15 is Pronte’s pick for a first visit built around the racing. Check the seating map for the section and elevation that suit you.
Turn 1 — the Austin moment
The uphill first corner is COTA’s defining image. The elevated setting brings the race start and heavy braking into one frame, with the field compressing at the top of the climb.
Choose this for the opening-lap spectacle and the sense of scale.
Main Grandstand — the weekend’s ceremony
The start-finish straight puts the grid, pit lane and team garages at the centre of your view. It suits readers who enjoy watching the race take shape as much as watching cars negotiate a corner.
Use COTA’s official grandstand guide to compare the actual sections. The view and cover depend on the seat you choose.
How far to upgrade
An upgrade should change something you value.
At COTA, that might mean shade, a climate-controlled interior, integrated dining or closer access to the working side of Formula 1. Those are different reasons to spend more, and the packages differ accordingly.
The Guest House at Turn 20 combines track views with dining, a climate-controlled interior and a shaded rooftop terrace. Paddock Club belongs in the conversation when access is a central reason for travelling.
Compare COTA’s hospitality options and F1 Experiences for the precise inclusions. A strong grandstand remains a complete way to enjoy the race.
Getting to COTA
Build each circuit day around one outward journey and one return. A tightly timed dinner immediately afterward is an unnecessary complication.
Official COTA shuttles connect Waterloo Park in downtown Austin and the Travis County Expo Center with the circuit, using a dedicated bus lane and front-gate drop-off. For a city-based weekend, Waterloo Park is the natural starting point to consider.
If you drive, arrange the appropriate COTA parking pass and follow the event’s lot instructions. Rideshare uses a separate drop-off via McAngus Road; it does not have the same access as the official buses.
Leave generous time, wear shoes you can walk in, and check the forecast and final spectator guidance before departure.
After the circuit

Give one dinner your full attention.
Emmer & Rye on Rainey Street builds its menu around seasonal Texas ingredients, with grains milled in-house for pasta and bread. It is our choice for an evening when the table becomes part of the trip.
For a more direct introduction to Texas, Lamberts Downtown Barbecue pairs slow-smoked barbecue with cocktails in a restored historic building on West 2nd Street. There is room for a proper dinner without turning the whole day into a barbecue expedition.
Then let the music decide the next hour. On South Congress, the Continental Club carries Austin’s roots-rock, country and blues tradition into the evening. Check the live calendar and choose a show that interests you.
COTA also has its own concert programme. Staying at the circuit is a valid way to finish the day; check what your ticket includes and plan the return accordingly.
You do not need to do all of it. One good meal and one good room with music are enough to make the weekend feel like Austin.
