Where to Stay in Baku for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix
Five places to stay when the circuit runs through the heart of the city.

Baku makes one of Formula 1’s easiest arguments for staying close to the action.
Unlike races held at purpose-built circuits outside the city, the Azerbaijan Grand Prix runs directly through central Baku: along the Caspian waterfront, past government buildings and around the walls of Icheri Sheher. That means the right hotel can turn much of the weekend into a walking trip — particularly useful once race-weekend road closures begin reshaping how you move around the city.
The question, then, is less how close can you get? and more which version of Baku do you want outside your hotel door?
JW Marriott Absheron Baku
Stay for the race
If the Grand Prix is the priority, the JW Marriott Absheron makes a compelling base.
The hotel sits on Azadliq Square, beside Baku Boulevard and close to the start-finish end of the circuit. Baku City Circuit’s spectator guidance has previously directed Gate A toward the JW Marriott, Port Baku Mall and New Baku Boulevard — a useful indication of just how closely the property is integrated into the race-weekend footprint.
Inside, the experience is considerably calmer. Rooms look toward either the city or Caspian Sea, while the 21st-floor Absheron Spa combines an indoor pool, sauna, steam room and treatment spaces with elevated views across Baku.
This is the hotel for travellers who want to step outside and immediately feel that they are at a Grand Prix — then retreat above it when the day is done.
Pronte pick: For maximum race-weekend convenience without giving up five-star amenities.
Four Seasons Hotel Baku
Stay for Baku
The Four Seasons approaches the weekend from the opposite direction.
Instead of putting the start-finish straight at the centre of the experience, it places you beside Icheri Sheher, Baku's UNESCO-listed Old City, at the point where the circuit wraps around some of its most recognizable historic architecture.
The hotel sits on the Caspian waterfront immediately adjacent to the Old City. Certain rooms offer private balconies with views toward either the Caspian or historic Baku.
Then there is Jaleh Spa, high in the hotel above a vaulted indoor pool, with hammam treatments, sauna and steam facilities.
If your Azerbaijan Grand Prix trip is intended to feel as much like a luxury city break as a race weekend, this is the natural fit. You can spend the morning inside the circuit and the evening walking through stone lanes that predate Formula 1 by centuries.
Pronte pick: For combining the Grand Prix with the strongest sense of place.
The Merchant Baku
Stay for the view
The Merchant is the wildcard — and possibly the most interesting race-specific stay on this list.
A smaller boutique property directly across from the Old City, The Merchant trades the scale and resort facilities of the larger international hotels for a more intimate position in central Baku.
More importantly, the hotel has marketed selected Deluxe Balcony rooms to Formula 1 visitors for their race views and special dining experiences.
That deserves one important caveat: do not assume every room has a circuit view. If watching the cars from the hotel is part of the reason you're booking, confirm the exact room category and view directly with the property.
For the right guest, though, this may be the most memorable option here. Baku is one of the few races where Formula 1 quite literally arrives outside hotel windows.
And once the track falls quiet, Icheri Sheher is across the road.
Pronte pick: For boutique character and the possibility of watching the race weekend from your balcony.
Hilton Baku
The all-rounder
Hilton Baku sits in an unusually useful middle ground.
It occupies the central seafront beside Baku Boulevard, with the city centre, shopping and Old City all within easy reach. Previous Baku City Circuit spectator guidance has directed Gate B toward Hilton, Park Bulvar, Nizami Street and 28 May metro station.
The property also gives you plenty of reasons not to immediately leave again once you return from the circuit.
Sky Grill occupies the upper floors with an outdoor terrace, while 360 Bar provides panoramic views across the city. The spa adds an indoor pool, Turkish hammam, sauna, treatment rooms and views over Baku and the Caspian.
It doesn't lean as heavily into Old Baku as the Four Seasons or The Merchant, nor as heavily into the start-finish experience as the JW Marriott.
That is also the point.
Pronte pick: For the traveller who wants race access, waterfront location and full-service luxury without centring the trip around one particular part of Baku.
InterContinental Baku
Stay central
InterContinental Baku is the straightforward central alternative.
Its position near the Boulevard places it close to the circuit while keeping Nizami Street, the waterfront and central Baku within easy reach.
Inside, Seven Beauties Spa takes its inspiration from the 12th-century poem by Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi, while the hotel also offers an indoor pool, Turkish hammam and Club InterContinental lounge overlooking Baku and the Caspian.
It is the least theatrical recommendation on this list — and useful because of it. If availability disappears at the more obvious race-weekend favourites, the InterContinental keeps you firmly in central Baku without requiring a major compromise in hotel standard.
Pronte pick: For modern luxury in the middle of the city.
Choosing where to stay
The five hotels solve slightly different versions of the same trip.
For the race: JW Marriott Absheron
Stay close to the start-finish end of the circuit and make Formula 1 the centre of the weekend.
For Baku: Four Seasons Hotel Baku
Pair easy circuit access with the Old City and a stronger luxury-city-break experience.
For the experience: The Merchant Baku
Choose the right balcony room and the circuit may come to you.
For balance: Hilton Baku
Waterfront location, straightforward access and enough amenities to work for almost anyone.
For central convenience: InterContinental Baku
A polished alternative within the heart of the race-weekend city.
One thing matters more than distance
During a street race, 500 metres on a normal map does not necessarily mean a five-minute walk.
Barriers, controlled crossings and spectator gates change how Baku works during the Grand Prix. Different circuit gates lead toward Azadliq Square, the Boulevard, Nizami Street and the Old City, which is why choosing your hotel according to your part of the circuit can matter more than choosing whichever property appears closest on a booking map.
Before travelling, check the latest official Baku City Circuit spectator map against both your hotel and your ticketed grandstand.
And book early. The best-positioned properties have an obvious advantage during one of the city's largest international weekends — particularly rooms with balconies, Caspian views or direct sightlines toward the circuit.
